For the past few years, I’ve participated in a maker-driven Secret Santa. (2019 – 2020 editions writeup)
This year I didn’t have too much time on my hands so I revisited an older project and added a thematic twist as per my “victim’s” info sheet. She said she was an aspiring guitar player and a huge LOTR nerd, so I decided to combine the two for this project.
I still had some of my guitar hangers left over. I put one of them in my Layzor to engrave the iconic ring font. I had to be smart about the placement, as you can clearly see in the video below. The laser head just barely cleared the bent wood plies, but it all worked out. No biggie.
I then cut a vinyl sticker stencil containing the 2nd part of the graphic, and spray painted it red.
A couple of coats of satin varnish on top gave me the finish I was looking for.
To finish, I added a nice leather pad for convenience.
All in all not too much time spent on it, but a happy “victim” nontheless!
