Like last year, I recently participated in a maker-related Secret Santa.
The person I got to make something for was a nice young lady who is apparently very close with her dog. So I decided to make a clock with a picture of her dog on it. I found inspiration on Pinterest off course, and tried to replicate the design with my own image. But sadly, this didn’t work out at all, as I ended up burning my nice piece of hardwood instead of cutting it due to the fine features of the artwork and the relatively slow feedrate .
So, back to the drawing board it was… I decided to cut the design from a leftover piece of oak veneer, and backed it with a contrasting piece of poplar plywood. I really wanted the hardwood look, so I guess this was the next best thing. As I could go a lot faster with the laser, it cut absolutely fine this time around. I bought a clock kit off of eBay to finish it.
I repurposed an old laptop box, pimped it with some Secret Santa vinyl stickers I made on the plotter, and that was it for my last project of the year 2020.
