LAYZOR cart

Although I consider the LAYZOR finished, I find myself regularly taking off the outer panels in order to troubleshoot small issues or generally dicking around with new hardware.

The problem is that the table I put the machine on is fixed to my other workbench, which makes the whole process of taking it out where I can reach all sides very cumbersome. So I decided to fabricate a cart on lockable wheels in order to facilitate this. There wasn’t really a plan so I kind of winged it. The design is easy enough: 2 rectangular frames held together by 4 vertical beams.

Most of the wood were leftover pieces, but I did buy the wheels. On the top frame I mounted a plate for the LAYZOR to stand on. The bottom frame acts a a much needed extra wood storage shelf.

I actually made this while doing the letter blocks on the CNC. Turned out exactly as I wanted it!

  1. Hi Frederico, now this has been in place for a few years, do you find the cart stable enough for your Layzor?

I’ve been doing 3D printing which obviously has faster head speeds, and have had issues when the bench isn’t 100% stable. Hence I was concerned about vibrations shaking the cart and impacting cut quality.

    1. Hey,

I’m sorry for the late reply, i’m just now seeing your comment…

As for the cart, never had an issue with it. The combined weight of the cart, Layzor, and wood stock is much too great to be an issue I guess. The laser head on the other hand is really light and nimble. Moreover, I don’t normally run the laser at excessive speeds, so no, no problems here.

  2. Hoi,
