I’m working very hard on the LAYZOR plans, but I do plan to show off some regular CNC projects more often again. For an upcoming project, I needed all the Z clearance I could get so I ordered this magnificent self-centering low profile vise. Not cheap but very well built. I’m sure I will come in very handy!
That being said, even with it’s limited height, I still needed it to be lower. So down into the wasteboard it goes!
I chucked my biggest endmill and started hogging out a pocket so the clamp just barely comes out on top. Luckily I have an enclosure because the dust was everywhere…
All in all a simple yet very useful modification that finally allows me to consistently hold down a 6cm block of wood without complicated clamping setups.
